My journey has crossed countries, islands, classrooms, careers, and now artificial intelligence. Looking back, one lesson connects every chapter: we are never too experienced—or too old—to become beginners again.
If someone had told the young teacher I once was that one day I would be sitting in New Mexico learning cloud computing, experimenting with generative AI, and building applications with AWS, I probably would have wondered how on earth that happened.
The answer isn’t one dramatic decision.
It is a series of chapters.
The Philippines: Where the Journey Began
My professional story began in the Philippines.
Education became the foundation of my career, but teaching gave me much more than a profession.
It taught me patience.
Adaptability.
Communication.
Creativity.
And perhaps most importantly, the ability to keep learning.
At the time, I couldn’t have known how important those lessons would become.
Saipan: Building a Life Far From Home
Another chapter eventually took me to Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
What began as a move became decades of life, work, relationships, and memories.
I continued teaching, worked with students across different grade levels, coached young speakers, participated in school programs, and watched generations of children grow.
Saipan became much more than a place where I worked.
It became home.
And somewhere along the way, the internet gave me another creative outlet.
I wrote.
I blogged.
I followed stories.
I participated in online communities.
Some of those pages are still being visited today, years after I stopped regularly updating them.
That discovery is one of the reasons I decided to revive this website rather than abandon it.
New Mexico: Starting Again
Eventually another major change arrived.
New Mexico became the next chapter.
Starting again after decades in familiar surroundings wasn’t always simple.
New community.
New school.
New systems.
New expectations.
But reinvention rarely happens when everything remains comfortable.
I returned to something teaching had taught me repeatedly:
You learn by doing.
Then Came Artificial Intelligence
Technology had always interested me, but the rapid development of generative AI made me pay closer attention.
I started taking courses.
Then more courses.
I studied prompt engineering, generative AI, cloud technologies, AI evaluation, responsible AI, and automation.
Eventually, I realized that learning alone wasn’t enough.
I needed to build.
So I began creating projects.
AI assistants.
Cloud workflows.
Content generators.
Educational AI concepts.
Project Aurora.
The Enterprise AI Assistant.
AI Literacy Academy.
And with every project, I became a beginner again.
The Value of Being a Beginner
There is something humbling about becoming a beginner after spending decades as an experienced professional.
You make mistakes.
You ask basic questions.
You encounter error messages you don’t understand.
You celebrate when something finally works.
But being a beginner is not a weakness.
It means you’re still growing.
I have come to believe that experience and curiosity are a powerful combination.
Experience tells you what matters.
Curiosity keeps you moving.
Suite & Stories: Bringing the Chapters Together
That is partly why this website is called Suite & Stories.
For years, different parts of my life seemed separate.
Teaching.
Writing.
Technology.
Business.
Digital creation.
AI.
Now I see them differently.
They are rooms in the same suite.
Each chapter contributes something to the next.
My education experience shapes how I think about responsible AI.
My writing experience shapes how I communicate.
My entrepreneurial experiences shape the problems I want technology to solve.
And my technology journey gives me new ways to turn ideas into something useful.
The Next Chapter
I don’t know exactly where the next chapter will lead.
And I’ve learned that I don’t need to.
What matters is remaining willing to learn.
To create.
To adapt.
And occasionally to begin again.
From the Philippines, to Saipan, to New Mexico—and from classrooms to artificial intelligence—the journey has taught me that reinvention doesn’t erase what came before.
It builds upon it.
And perhaps that is what Suite & Stories is really about.
Not starting over.
Starting from everything you’ve learned.
