The moment Bella stepped inside the house, Nikki rushed toward her.

“So? How was your first day?” Nikki asked, trying to sound casual but clearly excited.

Bella smiled shyly.
“It was… good. I made friends.”

Nikki’s face lit up.
“That’s great! See? I told you you’d be fine.”

Bella reached into her backpack and pulled out a folded piece of paper.
“I made something… for you.”

Nikki unfolded it — a simple drawing of two girls holding hands.
One labeled “Bella.”
The other labeled “Ate Nikki.”

Nikki’s breath hitched.
“Oh, Bella… this is beautiful.”

Bella looked down.
“I… I hope it’s okay. Ate Abby said you’re my Ate too.”

Nikki pulled her into a hug.
“Of course I am. Always.”

Luke entered the room, leaning against the doorframe.
“So, Bella… if anyone gives you a hard time at school, just tell me. I’ll take care of it.”

Bella giggled.
“Thank you, Kuya Luke.”

Later that night, the siblings gathered in the living room.
Nikki braided Bella’s hair while Abby taught her a clapping game.
Luke sat nearby, pretending not to watch but smiling every time Bella laughed.

Richard and Maya stood by the stairs, observing quietly.

“She’s blending in so well,” Maya whispered.

Richard nodded.
“She’s not just adjusting… she’s healing.”

Maya leaned her head on his shoulder.
“And she’s helping us grow too.”

Bella looked up from the couch and waved at them.

For the first time, the Lims felt it —
Bella wasn’t just staying with them.

She was becoming part of them.
