Midnight arrived like a slow, suffocating fog. The Lim household stood together — Richard at the front, Luke beside Bella, Maya and Bella’s mother behind them. The notebook lay open on the table, Delgado’s car still parked across the street, unmoving.

Bella whispered, “Why isn’t he coming out?”

Luke squeezed her hand. “Because he’s waiting.”

Richard frowned. “Waiting for what?”

Maya whispered, “For someone.”

And then the car door opened.

Not Delgado.

A woman stepped out.

⭐ The Woman

She walked toward the house with calm, confident steps. Her hair was tied back neatly, her clothes simple but elegant, her expression unreadable. She didn’t look afraid. She didn’t look rushed. She didn’t look like someone who belonged to Delgado’s world.

She looked like someone who had chosen to be here.

Bella’s mother gasped. “No… no, no…”

Maya covered her mouth. “It’s her.”

Luke frowned. “Who?”

Richard stepped forward, stunned. “Elise?”

The woman smiled softly. “Hello, Richard.”

Bella looked at Luke. “Who is she?”

Luke whispered, “Richard’s past.”

Bella’s heart dropped.

⭐ Elise Enters

Elise reached the porch, stopping just a few feet from Richard.

“You look older,” she teased gently.

Richard swallowed hard. “Elise… what are you doing here?”

She glanced at the house. “You have guests.”

Her eyes landed on Bella.

Bella felt her chest tighten. Elise’s gaze wasn’t threatening — it was curious. Studying. Measuring.

Elise stepped closer. “You must be Bella.”

Bella nodded slowly. “Yes.”

Elise smiled. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”

Bella frowned. “From who?”

Elise tilted her head. “From Delgado.”

Bella’s breath caught.

Luke stepped in front of her. “Stay away from her.”

Elise raised a brow. “Relax, hero. I’m not here to hurt her.”

Richard’s voice hardened. “Then why are you here?”

Elise looked at him — and her expression softened.

“I’m here to help.”

⭐ The Shock

Maya stepped forward. “Help? You’re with Delgado.”

Elise shook her head. “Not anymore.”

Bella’s mother whispered, “You left him?”

Elise nodded. “Months ago.”

Richard frowned. “Why?”

Elise looked at Bella. “Because of her.”

Bella froze. “Me?”

Elise nodded. “Delgado isn’t after you because of your father. He’s after you because of what your father left behind.”

Bella’s heart pounded. “Left behind?”

Elise nodded. “A file. A secret. Something Delgado wants more than anything.”

Luke stepped closer. “What file?”

Elise looked at him. “A list.”

Richard frowned. “A list of what?”

Elise answered quietly:

“A list of everyone who betrayed Delgado.”

Bella’s mother gasped. “Your father kept that?”

Elise nodded. “Yes. And Delgado thinks Bella knows where it is.”

Bella shook her head violently. “I don’t! I don’t know anything!”

Elise smiled gently. “I know. That’s why I’m here.”

⭐ Elise’s Truth

Elise stepped inside the house, ignoring the tension.

“I worked for Delgado once,” she said. “Not because I wanted to. Because I had no choice.”

Richard whispered, “Elise…”

She continued, “I saw things. Terrible things. And when I found out about the list… I knew I had to leave.”

Bella whispered, “Why come here?”

Elise looked at her. “Because you’re the only one who can stop him.”

Bella shook her head. “I’m not strong enough.”

Elise smiled. “Strength isn’t what you need. You need truth.”

Luke frowned. “What truth?”

Elise looked at Richard.

“Your father didn’t betray Delgado,” she said softly. “He protected you.”

Bella froze. “What?”

Elise nodded. “He hid the list to keep you safe. He knew Delgado would use you to get it. So he made sure no one knew where it was.”

Bella trembled. “But Delgado thinks I know.”

Elise nodded. “Yes. And he won’t stop until he gets it.”

⭐ The Warning

Elise stepped closer to Bella.

“You’re in danger,” she said softly. “Real danger. But you’re not alone.”

Bella whispered, “Why are you helping me?”

Elise hesitated — then answered honestly.

“Because I couldn’t save myself. But I can save you.”

Bella’s eyes filled with tears.

Luke stepped forward. “What do we do?”

Elise looked at him. “You protect her. With everything you have.”

Luke nodded. “I already am.”

Elise smiled. “Good.”

Richard asked, “What about Delgado?”

Elise’s expression hardened. “He won’t stop. Not tonight. Not tomorrow. Not ever.”

Bella trembled. “Then how do we stop him?”

Elise answered quietly:

“We find the list before he does.”

Bella whispered, “But I don’t know where it is.”

Elise nodded. “I know.”

Bella frowned. “Then how do we find it?”

Elise looked at Richard.

“Your father left clues,” she said. “In the notebook.”

Bella gasped. “The notebook?”

Elise nodded. “Yes. He hid messages in your drawings. In your scribbles. In your childhood memories.”

Bella’s heart raced. “Mom… did you know?”

Her mother shook her head. “No. I didn’t.”

Elise stepped closer. “Bella… you’re the key.”

Bella trembled. “I don’t want to be.”

Elise smiled gently. “I know. But you are.”

⭐ The Final Moment

Elise turned toward the window.

Delgado’s car was still there.

Watching.

Waiting.

Elise whispered, “He knows I’m here.”

Richard frowned. “Will he come inside?”

Elise shook her head. “Not tonight.”

Bella whispered, “Why not?”

Elise looked at her.

“Because tonight… he wants you to be afraid.”

Bella swallowed hard. “And tomorrow?”

Elise answered quietly:

“Tomorrow… he’ll come for you.”

Bella trembled. Luke held her hand.

Elise stepped closer.

“But tomorrow… I’ll be here too.”
