⭐ Episode 16 — The New Beginning

Word Count: ~1,800 words

Bella stood face‑to‑face with Delgado, her father’s letter in her hand, Luke behind her, Richard and Elise flanking her, Maya and her mother watching from a distance. The streetlight cast long shadows across the pavement, turning the confrontation into something almost theatrical.

But this wasn’t a performance.

This was the moment everything had been leading to.

⭐ Bella Holds the Truth

Bella lifted the letter again.

“My father wrote this,” she said. “He hid the truth because of what you did.”

Delgado’s expression didn’t change. “Your father made choices.”

Bella stepped closer. “So did you.”

Luke whispered, “Bella… be careful.”

Bella didn’t look back.

She kept her eyes on Delgado.

“You hurt my mother,” she said. “You threatened her. You used her. And when my father tried to expose you, you killed him.”

Delgado’s jaw tightened. “Your father betrayed me.”

Bella shook her head. “No. You betrayed him.”

Delgado stepped closer. “Bella… you don’t understand—”

Bella cut him off.

“I know what you did.”

⭐ Delgado Breaks

For the first time, Delgado’s calm façade cracked.

Just a little.

Just enough.

He looked at Bella with something she had never seen in him before.

Fear.

“Your father didn’t tell you everything,” Delgado said quietly.

Bella frowned. “What do you mean?”

Delgado looked at Luke, Richard, Elise — then back at Bella.

“There’s more,” he said. “Something he didn’t write in the letter.”

Bella’s heart pounded. “What?”

Delgado hesitated.

Then he said it.

“He didn’t hide the list alone.”

Bella froze. “What?”

Delgado nodded. “He had help.”

Bella whispered, “From who?”

Delgado answered quietly:

“From someone you trust.”

Bella’s stomach twisted. “Who?”

Delgado looked at her with chilling patience.

“Your father didn’t hide the list in the school. He hid part of it there. The rest… he gave to someone else.”

Bella trembled. “Who?”

Delgado whispered:

“Elise.”

⭐ The Shock

Bella turned slowly.

Elise stood frozen.

Luke whispered, “Elise… is that true?”

Elise didn’t answer.

Richard stepped forward. “Elise… talk.”

Elise closed her eyes.

“Yes.”

Bella’s breath caught. “You helped my father?”

Elise nodded. “I didn’t want to tell you. Not yet.”

Bella’s voice cracked. “Why?”

Elise looked at her with heartbreaking honesty.

“Because your father asked me to protect you. And I failed.”

Bella shook her head. “No… no, you didn’t fail…”

Elise stepped closer. “Bella… I knew Delgado would come for you. I knew he would chase you. I knew he would hurt anyone who stood in his way.”

Bella whispered, “Then why didn’t you tell me?”

Elise swallowed hard.

“Because your father didn’t want you to know until you were ready.”

Bella trembled. “Ready for what?”

Elise answered quietly:

“To finish what he started.”

⭐ Delgado’s Final Move

Delgado stepped forward again.

“Your father trusted Elise,” he said. “More than anyone. More than your mother. More than Tita Lani. More than Richard.”

Bella whispered, “Why?”

Delgado smirked. “Because Elise wasn’t afraid of me.”

Elise glared. “I am now.”

Delgado smiled. “Good.”

Luke stepped in front of Bella. “You’re not touching her.”

Delgado raised a brow. “I don’t need to.”

Bella frowned. “What do you mean?”

Delgado looked at her with chilling calm.

“You have twenty‑four hours,” he said. “And now you know the truth.”

Bella whispered, “What truth?”

Delgado answered quietly:

“The list isn’t a list.”

Bella froze. “What?”

Delgado nodded. “It’s a recording.”

Bella’s breath stopped.

Luke whispered, “A recording of what?”

Delgado looked at Bella.

“Of what I did to your father.”

Bella’s knees weakened.

Luke caught her.

⭐ The Collapse

Bella cried into Luke’s chest. “He killed my father… he killed him…”

Luke held her tightly. “I’m here. I’m here.”

Richard stepped forward, voice shaking. “Delgado… you’re done.”

Delgado smirked. “Am I?”

Elise stepped closer. “Bella… listen to me. Your father didn’t die because he betrayed Delgado. He died because he tried to protect you.”

Bella sobbed. “I know…”

Elise continued, voice trembling:

“And he didn’t hide the recording to expose Delgado. He hid it to protect you from the truth.”

Bella whispered, “Why?”

Elise answered quietly:

“Because he didn’t want you to carry his pain.”

Bella cried harder.

⭐ Bella Stands

Luke held her until her breathing steadied.

Bella wiped her tears.

Then she stepped forward.

Toward Delgado.

Luke grabbed her arm. “Bella—”

She squeezed his hand. “I’m okay.”

Richard whispered, “Anak… don’t—”

Bella stepped closer.

Delgado watched her with curiosity.

Bella whispered:

“You didn’t break me.”

Delgado raised a brow. “No?”

Bella shook her head.

“You made me stronger.”

Delgado’s smile faded.

Bella continued:

“I’m not afraid of you. I’m not afraid of the truth. I’m not afraid of what my father did. I’m not afraid of what you did.”

Delgado’s jaw tightened.

Bella whispered:

“And I’m not running anymore.”

⭐ Delgado’s Defeat

Delgado stepped back.

Just one step.

Just enough.

Luke whispered, “Bella… you’re scaring him.”

Bella didn’t look away.

She held Delgado’s gaze.

“You’re done,” she said softly. “And you know it.”

Delgado didn’t answer.

Elise stepped beside Bella. “We’ll find the recording.”

Richard nodded. “We’ll expose him.”

Bella’s mother whispered, “We’ll protect you.”

Maya cried softly. “We’ll stand with you.”

Luke held Bella’s hand. “Always.”

Bella looked at Delgado one last time.

“This is the end,” she said.

Delgado whispered:

“No, Bella. This is the beginning.”

Then he turned.

And walked away.

⭐ The New Beginning

Bella collapsed into Luke’s arms again, exhausted, shaking, overwhelmed.

Luke held her tightly. “You did it.”

Bella whispered, “No… we did.”

Richard placed a hand on her shoulder. “We’re finding that recording.”

Elise nodded. “And when we do… Delgado is finished.”

Bella’s mother hugged her. “Anak… you’re so strong.”

Bella looked at all of them — Luke, Richard, Elise, Maya, her mother — and felt something she hadn’t felt in years.

Hope.

She whispered:

“This is my new beginning.”

Luke kissed her forehead. “And I’m with you.”

Bella nodded.

“Let’s finish what Dad started.”
