She attended a wedding she wasn’t invited to.

He was the groom.

The moment their eyes met, everything changed.

He wasn’t surprised.

He wasn’t angry.

He wasn’t even confused.

He was just… smiling.

The kind who recognized her instantly.
The kind who remembered a story they never finished.
The kind who quietly said, “I knew you’d show up eventually.”

And she felt something she didn’t expect:

A soft, impossible kind of kilig — the kind that feels like finding the missing chapter of a story you thought was over.

⭐ “The Wrong Wedding”

Category: Stories & Writing • Suite & Stories

Elena Cruz knew she was in the wrong place.

The moment she stepped into the garden venue and saw rows of white roses, elegant decorations, and guests dressed far better than she was, she realized something had gone terribly wrong.

She checked the invitation on her phone.

Then checked it again.

And again.

Somehow, she had followed the wrong address.

Apparently, there were two wedding venues on neighboring properties.

The correct event was next door.

The one she was supposed to attend.

The one she was now extremely late for.

“Perfect,” she muttered.

She turned around, ready to leave quietly before anyone noticed.

“Elena?”

Her heart stopped.

Slowly, she turned.

Someone was standing at the far end of the aisle.

Someone she hadn’t seen in years.

Someone wearing a groom’s suit.

Lucas Villareal.

For a moment, neither of them moved.

The years between them disappeared instantly.

Not because they had been lovers.

Not because they had been together.

But because they had almost become something.

A long time ago.

Before life got busy.

Before timing got complicated.

Before unfinished feelings became unfinished stories.

Lucas walked toward her.

Calm.

Steady.

Dangerously familiar.

And unbelievably…

He was smiling.

“You’re early,” he said.

Elena blinked.

“What?”

“My wedding doesn’t start for another thirty minutes.”

She stared at him.

“Your wedding.”

“Yes.”

“Your wedding.”

He nodded.

“That wedding.”

Elena looked around.

Looked at the flowers.

Looked at the guests.

Looked back at him.

“I should leave.”

“Probably.”

Neither moved.

Lucas crossed his arms.

“You still panic when you’re nervous.”

“I’m not nervous.”

“You are.”

“I’m leaving.”

“You’ve said that three times.”

His smile grew.

Her heart instantly became uncooperative.

Some things never changed.

Lucas was one of them.

Years ago, they’d met during a writing workshop.

They traded drafts.

Shared ideas.

Talked about stories.

And slowly…

They became each other’s favorite chapter.

Then life happened.

Different cities.

Different priorities.

Different timing.

Neither of them ever confessed what might have been.

The story simply ended.

Or so she thought.

Lucas tilted his head.

“You look exactly the same.”

Elena laughed.

“That’s a terrible lie.”

“It’s not.”

“It absolutely is.”

“You still argue with compliments.”

“And you still give them too often.”

His grin widened.

“Missed that.”

The words landed somewhere dangerous inside her chest.

A silence settled between them.

Comfortable.

Familiar.

Unfair.

Finally Elena glanced toward the ceremony area.

“You should go.”

Lucas nodded.

“Probably.”

Neither moved.

Again.

She laughed softly.

“This is ridiculous.”

“A little.”

“You have a wedding.”

“I do.”

“And you’re standing here talking to me.”

His eyes warmed.

“Because you showed up.”

Her heartbeat stumbled.

Just enough.

Enough to notice.

Enough to remember.

Enough to make leaving significantly harder.

Then a woman approached them.

Beautiful dress.

Warm smile.

Holding a wedding bouquet.

Elena immediately stepped back.

Mortified.

“Oh.”

Lucas started laughing.

Actually laughing.

The woman laughed too.

“What?” Elena asked.

Lucas shook his head.

“Elena.”

She narrowed her eyes.

“What?”

“The bride is my sister.”

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Then:

“What?”

“My sister.”

“What?”

“Her wedding.”

“What?”

Lucas pointed.

“I’m the best man.”

Elena covered her face.

The bride laughed so hard she nearly dropped the bouquet.

“Oh, this is even better than Lucas described.”

Elena wanted the ground to open.

Immediately.

Preferably now.

Lucas was still laughing.

Which somehow made everything worse.

And better.

Mostly worse.

The bride finally recovered.

“I’m Isabella.”

“Elena.”

“The legendary Elena.”

Elena blinked.

“The what?”

Isabella looked delighted.

“Oh, Lucas talks about you all the time.”

Lucas almost choked.

The bride walked away before he could stop her.

Leaving them alone again.

Lucas looked extremely uncomfortable.

For the first time all afternoon.

Elena smiled.

Slowly.

Dangerously.

“All the time?”

He groaned.

“Please don’t.”

“All. The. Time?”

“This conversation is over.”

She laughed.

The real kind.

The kind she’d forgotten she missed.

Lucas looked at her for a long moment.

Then smiled.

Softly.

Warmly.

Like someone rediscovering a favorite story.

“Maybe,” he said quietly, “we never finished it.”

Elena’s heart betrayed her completely.

Because she knew exactly which story he meant.

The one they’d left unfinished years ago.

The one standing between them now.

Waiting.

Patiently.

For a second chapter.

Sometimes life doesn’t give you perfect timing.

Sometimes stories pause before they’re ready.

Sometimes you accidentally attend the wrong wedding…

Only to find the right person.
