Five days later…

Tracking still said:

✅ Out For Delivery

At this point she wasn’t tracking a package.

She was maintaining a toxic relationship.

⭐ The Tracking Number That Gaslit Me

Emma Rivera checked the tracking before breakfast.

Out For Delivery.

She smiled.

Finally.

The package was coming.

At last.

The mystery was ending.

The suffering was over.

Or so she thought.

By lunchtime she checked again.

Still:

Out For Delivery.

Reasonable.

Normal.

Acceptable.

By dinner?

Still:

Out For Delivery.

Interesting.

By bedtime?

Exactly the same.

Emma stared at the tracking page.

The tracking page stared back emotionally.

Neither moved the relationship forward.

The next morning she checked again.

The package was somehow still:

Out For Delivery.

Emma blinked.

Then refreshed.

Still Out For Delivery.

Refresh.

Still.

Refresh.

Very still.

At this point the tracking update felt less like information and more like a personality trait.

That evening Liam called.

“Any updates?”

Emma sighed.

“It’s out for delivery.”

“Great.”

“It’s been out for delivery for two days.”

A pause.

“Maybe it’s walking.”

“What?”

“Maybe the package got tired of trucks.”

She laughed.

Because honestly?

His theory was becoming more believable than the tracking system.

By Day Four everybody knew about the package.

Friends asked.

Coworkers asked.

Even relatives asked.

Not because they cared about the package.

Because they wanted updates on the drama.

The package had become a celebrity.

Without actually arriving.

An impressive achievement.

Then came Day Five.

Emma opened the tracking page.

Hopeful.

Optimistic.

Emotionally vulnerable.

The update appeared.

Exactly where she expected it.

Exactly what she feared.

Out For Delivery.

Again.

At this point she wasn’t waiting for a package.

She was waiting for character development.

The tracking never provided any.

Later that week another package arrived from Temu.

Right on time.

No mystery.

No emotional manipulation.

No identity crisis.

No five-day commitment to being “out for delivery.”

It simply arrived.

Like a functioning package.

The experience felt suspicious.

Emma looked at the delivered box.

Then at the tracking page.

Then back at the box.

“You see that?”

Liam asked.

“What?”

“That’s accountability.”

She nearly dropped the package laughing.

Sometimes packages get delayed.

Sometimes tracking updates get confused.

And sometimes the tracking number becomes the most emotionally unavailable character in the story.

A one-shot moment dedicated to everyone who has ever refreshed a tracking page hoping for closure.
